There are many web sites that can help you learn more about vision or how to cope with a child’s vision impairment.

  • Band-Aids and Blackboards is about growing up with medical problems, and how to handle a chronic illness or other medical problem at school. This site was designed to help parents, children, and teens cope with their disability at school.  It discusses how to handle teasing and lets kids and parents both share their stories.
  • Optometrists' Network is a large network of patient advocacy and optometric web sites, including one dedicated to children with vision impairment. Their site includes everything from choosing a doctor to discussing different types of disorders and the best type of treatment. Visit Children's Visual Health for information on children's vision.
  • Minnesota Academy of Ophthalmology web site explains how to find an eye doctor. There is a public section that can answers questions about eye protection, vitamins to help the eyes, and the damage that sun, computers, and other things can do to your eyes.
  • Sight & Hearing Association can answer a lot of your questions about vision problems and how to keep your eyes safe.
  • V.I. Guide was created by Betsy Walker, whose daughter is blind, to help other parents and caregivers of children with visual impairments find other resources on the web.  There are links to resources for parenting, special education, medical services, and more.
