<< back to SAFETY topics

Children love to explore, run around, and try new things.  This is a wonderful learning process for them, but as caregivers, it can make us nervous!  This section is dedicated to how to keep your children safe at all times.  Prevention is the best and easiest way to avoid injury.

In the United States, unintentional injury is the leading cause of death in children under the age of 14.  Falling is the primary cause of death in these children.  Other leading causes include fire, burns, drowning, suffocating, choking, firearms, and poisoning.  These tragic statistics can be reversed easily.  As many as 90% of these injuries can be prevented. Just a few simple changes in your home, car, or community, will make a world of difference.
